digitals from herculaneum, another roman town.

The first thing to greet me when i arrived was the high wall of the volcanic ash (and now modern ground level) Looking down into a dug hole and seeing a town in it, that's a lot of volcanic ash.    what else is hidden down under? i loved it here too. Pompeji probably needs two days of exploring, but i was only here in herculaneum for a few hours in the afternoon and pretty much got to see all of it. it is much much smaller than pompeji but better preserved. oh italy.. why art thou so lovely.
herculaneum cannot be further excavated because there is a modern town on top of it.

my film from herculaneum

comparing these with the same photos i took with a good digital camera, these win. that's the reason i throw that little plastic camera with me in my handbag. it captures the colors and light. just what i wanted.
