fire walk with me

{L}ast time i was in the states, i visited Rydell High in california, this time we went to Twin Peaks. i've been watching the series for the first time this summer -it is amazing. i'm glad the series has somehow managed to escape me up until now, it turned up in my life at the perfect time. the fact that we went there was such a funny coincidence. my friends, almost all of them, are huge fans so naturally we had to go. We only went to North Bend and Snoqualmie, about 30 minutes from Seattle. we had cherrypie and a damn fine cup of coffee (the character Dale Cooper was right about that one!) at Twede's Café, which is the Double R Diner in the series. what else can i say... see the series or bob will come for you.

We went in to Seattle in the late evening/night, a few hours before our flight back, and what can i say, we love the cheesecake factory. This was our last stop for this time. we loved it here. as always. only good things!

i'm very happy with the diana's, using the 55mm wide angle lens. i could never have gotten both the house and the waterfall in the shot, without it.

i love diners.

san francisco, san diego & los angeles diners.
oh the joy!

Diners were the only place in america i wanted to eat at! So dangerously good and unhealthy but oh oh i love them. It wasn't that bad eating at diners because.. Sweden doesn't have them! My mom and dad used to take me to eat at Max every saturday after ballet practice when i was like 6 years old. I eat hamburgers about once a year(if at all) in Sweden so you can guess right that Burgers, Fries & Shakes were a whole lot of fun for me, as the classic dishes at the darling 1950's diners. go america!

I didn't go to "Cadillac Jacks" in LA because i totally forgot about it.. -_- The grease 2 diner scene was shot there. it is very pretty.

Homemade Zuko burger's and Pink Lady Shake's sound good now though.

LA.

Driving from San Diego, we arrived in LA, and since we had a car, it was pretty easy to see bits and pieces of LA. we drove to Newport beach, and santa monica beach (totally forgot about laguna beach. uh). we walked the walk of fame, saw marilyn monroes dresses, visited the la brea tar pit museum (awesome-i bought a book about it). and visited Rydell High.

it's so sunny and bright here. the roads here are never ending. it is SO scary to drive along an endless road and then see the crossing roads.. cuz they are endless too. and i've never seen so many cars in my entire life at once. there are cars everywhere. the biggest city i've ever been to.

we drove through LA from south to north on the 5 i think, so far on our california trip we've never been standing still on the highway. driving went very smooth. car country. i wish it was the 70's cuz the cars looked so much better back then. i love my moms photos from 1975. We did get mega-lost once. a road trip that could have taken 10 minutes or less for us.. took 3 HOURS. no, i'm not telling. but at least we could laugh about it. and .. we got to see a lot of stuff on those 3 hours.

i love LA. i bought a bunch of cheap camera film here and some cheap plastic toy cameras.

We ate at Ruby's diner, somewhere in the city.
i liked it less than Mel's. just sayin.
but the milkshakes... aaaah!

san francisco, day four.

i went in to the city today and spent some time with Kajsa. we went to a diner, and then we headed to the mission, where she lives. we sat for an hour in a really nice park and had a small picnic with baked bread and olives from an organic little food store close by, eating and chatting while overlooking the skyscrapes. time ran away from us faster than we wanted and i had to catch my train back to palo alto. at the caltrain station i saw cecilia and affe who just returned visiting stina in palo alto. it's the third time we run in to each other. funny. that felt like being in little umeå too! how nice.

we think the mission is quite nice. i seriously loved that park. little tiny place in the world. wish i could have stayed longer, but a week from now, i might have more time. we're going to san diego tomorrow morning. and then driving back up to here via L.A. i'll be back online on saturday or sunday. have a nice week.

those lines look insane and can't possible be safe!!

me in a polaroid taken by kajsa.
i don't have a scanner here,
i will scan it when i get home.

oh. and i can add some more things to the american list:
  • BART subway here in san fran has carpet floors in them. WHY?!. i nearly died when i saw that.
  • don't place the parking permit in the car? why even waste money on getting one then?
  • some things are more expensive here, but a lot of things are cheaper.
  • 3 pair of converse shoes here for almost the price of a single pair in sweden (yes emily i have them for you!) i hate sweden!.

san francisco, day three.

we left palo alto and went in to "the city" today where we met cecilia and affe who were visiting SF too. we ate at Mels drive in, i finally had a taste of vanilla milkshake and i loved it. we walked around market street, but there wasn't really much to see there, the stores were boring. we didn't have time to go anywhere else today. stina and i had nasty iced latte (don't try it). we finally met kajsa again and we all had dinner at a jazz restaurant which had a live jazz band playing. it was a really nice day with friends here in san francisco. tomorrow i'm going in again to hang out with Kajsa before she leaves for Boston.
