"what's in my bag?"

this is silly so i thought i would do one myself. lol.

things in my bag: holga 135 camera, phone, red little book for photos, mp3, blue wallet, small jar for little things, pen, pain killers, lotion, black mirror, gloves, calendar, compass, cd-player, cd's, keychain(when it's not hanging by my back pocket), dark red lipstick, makeup bag.

things i wish were in my bag: a small piano, my horse, narnia.

food clash.

• the only true american food i've been eating i guess is at the diners. i liked the vegetarian hamburgers there. i just love diners... other times i've tried to find italian or greek restaurants (love european food).
  
  

• the candy here is so far not much. but i've only been to safeway. there is still hope. i really wish swedish candy was available here. the "swedish fish" are ok when there isn't any better around. most candy look plastic, has a suspicious strong color or tastes like.. dishwash soap. i wanted to try twinkies but they looked a little too suspicious. i did try snowballs, but.. they weren't any good... the bags are BIG SIZE. like stock up HUGE. everything comes in big pack here.
• the american food culture seems to like fries and meat more than -candy-. but drinks are sweeter than the candy, americans seem to like sugar in all kinds of things more than actual candy. sweden has the most wonderful candy i tell you.. and instead no sugar in the food. overall, i missed my swedish food. i don't shop at IKEA in sweden, but abroad i would only got to IKEA lol.

• sprite and coca cola bottles are a little wider, and both has a sweeter taste compared to the swedish. uh.

• cheese is already slized here, and it doesn't taste much cheese. and why is it orange? trying to put cheese sticks on my toast was funny in the morning. but they were good compared to peanut butter... hm.
  
  

• i'm hearing that cupcakes here are way too sweet. i hope not.

• i've had cheesecake, and it was ok, but ugh, i couldn't even finish it.

• coffee is cheaper here. around 2 dollars cheaper. i love starbucks. acutally good we don't have starbucks in sweden. i'm not supposed to drink coffee. but oh i love mochas. i could have 3 in one day. dangerous!

but there was 3 things i loved..
mtn dew
milkshakes
and starbucks cafe mocha.

mtn dew is slowly being introduced to sweden, i saw some on a shelf a few weeks ago.. now i'm waiting for the other two..!

san francisco, day four.

i went in to the city today and spent some time with Kajsa. we went to a diner, and then we headed to the mission, where she lives. we sat for an hour in a really nice park and had a small picnic with baked bread and olives from an organic little food store close by, eating and chatting while overlooking the skyscrapes. time ran away from us faster than we wanted and i had to catch my train back to palo alto. at the caltrain station i saw cecilia and affe who just returned visiting stina in palo alto. it's the third time we run in to each other. funny. that felt like being in little umeå too! how nice.

we think the mission is quite nice. i seriously loved that park. little tiny place in the world. wish i could have stayed longer, but a week from now, i might have more time. we're going to san diego tomorrow morning. and then driving back up to here via L.A. i'll be back online on saturday or sunday. have a nice week.

those lines look insane and can't possible be safe!!

oh. and i can add some more things to the american list:

• BART subway here in san fran has carpet floors in them. WHY?!. i nearly died when i saw that.
  
• don't place the parking permit in the car? why even waste money on getting one then?
• some things are more expensive here, but a lot of things are cheaper.
• 3 pair of converse shoes here for almost the price of a single pair in sweden (yes emily i have them for you!) i hate sweden!.

palo alto, day one.

writing from my sisters bed. we're watching a movie, and i should be sleeping, i am exhausted. i didnt get enough sleep the night before i left sweden, so i felt sick the whole way. i liked chicago's airport. now i'm here in palo alto.

the american list. some things, seen from a swedish perspective:

• there are no street lights at night at this place where stina lives. scary. and what's with the U turns? everybody seems to drive big heavy dark cars that drinks gas. i've only seen ONE old volvo on the freeway lol.
  
  
• doorhandles are funny, and i don't get the carpet floors.

• i don't get to pack the grocery bags. why?!?! i've got arms?!

• i don't get seat number at cinemas.

a few things..

• the final season of LOST starts this month.. do you know what this means jenny?!
• the only good thing with the movies 2012 and zombieland is that woody is in them, and the cool special effects. that's it. the plots were really disappointing.
• i still believe in thrifting. very much.
• i can't believe it's raining. spring seems to come really fast.
• spring can't begin until after easter. i'm excited about easter this year.
• HIM please come to sweden?
• i want to spend as many days on the beach as i can this summer.
• avocado with lime, where have you been all my life?
