Jämtland in the autumn

This past weekend, i visited Östersund to see my cousins, i  visited the cabin in Åre and had dinner with uncle and family in northern Jämtland. I love Jämtland... i love the thin bread, i love the fells and mountains, i love the dark forests, i love my family, i love everything there. I hardly ever get to go there in the autumn, so this was a special weekend.

saturday rollergirls.

I've always liked roller skating but havent done it much, and hey roller derbys and roller discos are way cool, so i was very happy when my friend Eva said she roller skates. Now i just need the confidence to be on wheels and move at the same time. Eva Rib Cruncher is really good at rollerskating, and i want to be good at something again. As you can see in the pic of me above i was trying out Eva's kit and practicing rolling without falling. And i didnt fall. its like skiing/ice skating and cross country riding all at once..on wheels. Most fabulous roller girls the world has ever seen... i need a roller derby name!

I've never been interested in instagram, cuz i didnt think the photo layers were that good in quality..i still think so, but now that i've stepped into the world of smartphones (yes,, a week ago, i'm late to the party i know, but whatevs) i will start using instagram because it's easy and easy to share.

im back from the mountains with a superia film. i only shot film while i was there and that felt liberating, i never picked up my digital. first up in the mountain series...are these photos from sisters and my walk down the classic western trail of Mt Åreskutan..we do this every year and i've posted about it before here.

and when you reach the root of the mountain.. and enter the woods.. watch out for trolls..!

it's time for a camera update/review again.

So it is summer, which means a lot of sunlight.. as a toy camera user this is the time of year to pick it up and catch the sunrays. i have film that is about to expire i shall take this chance to try them. and yes i know it's fun to shoot expired film, but i prefer it when it isn't. developing film is very expensive here, so i usually end up shooting about 3 films/year, which, isnt a lot, but that's where i'm at right now. I've had a lot of luck with my film rolls, because most pictures have always turned out and looked good without hardly any light leaks. After 3 years of learning and testing and exploring, i have my favorite cameras that fit me very good and my favorite film to go with them:

the diana.

i added a wide angle lens, because i wanted to have the option of fitting more things into the frame, landscapes, buildings, people etc. and so far i like it. it doesn't produce as much dark corners, but that's ok. the flash doesnt really fit when the viewfinder is attached, so that's a bit annoying, but my diana flash broke after a few times, so whatever. top left is kodak portra vc without wide angle lens, top right is fuji reala without wide angle lens. bottom left is fuji reala with wide angle lens, bottom right is kodak ektar with wide angle lens.

i've mostly used black&white film in this, and it suits it better than color i think. i particularly like shooting stone buildings with kodak t-max. if i ever go to transylvania, i will bring my holga.

this camera is such a dream. i love this little one and the photos it produces. i will be so sad the day it stops working. i think my favorite film with this camera is the kodak portra nc.

the SLR nikkormat ft
this camera likes natural film. and i like them together. kodak portra ftw. this camera was my grandfathers, it was made in the 60's. i love this one, i've shot several film rolls with it already, but it is heavy to carry.

gratitude.

i've been talking a lot about polaroids on this blog. well. they are quite something. it's scary how fast time moves. one of my favorite things is walking past this and seeing all my important and happy moments.. saved.. and knowing those polaroids helped me capture those moments in such a pretty format. and a lot of them are also personal achievements. this is why i named this post gratitude.

swedish midsummer's eve. the longest day and shortest night.

my sis had a german and a french visiting over midsummer, girls she met in california, so we took them to see the most swedish summer thing there is, and they got to make flowers for their heads. very important. then of course there's photos of a 1860's house and thin bread. cause i love those things (and thin bread is basically my life). tonight i'm going to stay up all night outside and watch the sun set and rise... which it barely does.. it just stays there. it sets at 23.07 and rises at 02.14. this is all important for the place we are in in the world because it is sooo cosy. happy summer solstice!
